I think if we base predictions on what people are talking about now, this is the year of Danica. And rightly so after watching her strong 6th place run in the ARCA crashfest 200 yesterday. It was her first stock car race ever, she got spun, and ended the race with a very strong run with the ARCA boys. She ran top ten most of the race, got spun out, and when the end was near started moving to the front. I think she has answered all of the critics on if she could handle the heavy stock cars. She can, and will continue to, on what I believe will end up being the shortest stock car career before getting a top Sprint Cup ride. No cup owner will turn her down as she is an instant marketing machine with probably an endless batch of sponsors.
I will also predict this will be the year that NASCAR’s family will completely embrace twitter. Heck they already have. With all of my favorite drivers on twitter now, and their spotters, crew chiefs, & families as well, it makes for an interesting, personal angle on the behind the scenes of this traveling circus. Today, was a perfect example. I got this picture in my twitter on my phone of @delanaharvick’s kitchen with last night’s trophy sitting there. I keep thinking how cool is it that I can see the drivers house, the next day, and what he actually did with the trophy! Another treat today was watching the progress and pictures of @kylebusch, @scottspeed, & thier significant others travel down from Daytona to attend the SuperBowl in Miami. This is a very neat time with twitter, before it reaches a saturation point and goes downhill. Enjoy it like I do!
And now onto the real predictions for the 2010 Racing Season:
- Mark Martin wins his first ever Sprint Cup title and retires.
- Danica Patrick inherits Mark’s ride in the 5 car for the 2011 season.
- Stick a fork in Jeff Gordon, he is done. So is Junior.
- Jeff Gluck gets a job as NASCAR’s Chief Twitterer.
- Paul Tracy continues to pound the deserts in the Southwest as IndyCar owners still put inferior drivers in their cars.
- Juan Pablo Montoya wins his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Oval win. He also will finish top 3 in points this year.
- It will be a banner year for Formula 1 with Michael Schumachers return. He will win the most races but not the championship due to DNF’s. Alonso will win the title with his first year with Ferrari.
Have a great 2010 racing season!

It seems like yesterday we saw Michael Schumacher racing a Ferrari Formula 1 car, but it was 2006. At that time during the off-season we all wondered, would the sport be better or worse without him? Who could fill such a huge void? Rookie Lewis Hamilton from Great Britain came in and made it all interesting again. Other drivers were racing for the win again, it wasn’t just the Michael show anymore. 2007 – 2009 were great seasons for the sport of Formula 1 and renewed my interest in seeing, what will happen week to week.
This off season became interesting when Michael Schumacher announced he would stop his retirement and come back racing with the boys. To make it even more shocking, he would not return to Ferrari, even though he was their pet for the previous three years. In what I believe is the first step towards the next championship, Michael defects from his long time family in Ferrari for Mercedes GP. This newly renamed outfit is actually Ross Brawn’s team that won last years championship. Even more of a coo is the teaming up of what was a very powerful duo of Ross Brawn and Michael Schumacher. Together they have put together a handful of world championships already.
Kathy found some contest with the local newspaper. If you submit a funny photo of a kid they could be selected to be “Clown-of-the-Day” at a circus that is setup in the high school parking lot. So she sent in a picture of BreeAnna and forgot about it. Later on we found out she won the contest, would have her picture in the newspaper, 4 free tickets to the circus, & Bree would get to participate in the activities.
The circus is the Zoppe Circus which is a small, family-run, traditional, circus. It is the same as it was generations ago which gives it a very endearing quality. It was not commercialized like the Barnum’s where everywhere you turn they are selling something. It was a group of performers, mostly related, who live and work together, wandering about showing off their skills.
So what do you do on the eve of Christmas Eve? You go out to eat at IHOP then drive around looking at Christmas lights of course. There is one particular street in a neighborhood not far from me where the neighbors have joined up to create a spectacular lighting show. Each house is decorated to some degree while a few have gone all out. Please enjoy the pictures and may you and your family have a safe and Happy Holiday.
Well my little girl is growing up. This time we decided to have her party at the local skating rink. She invited all of her friends and we had a great time. Check it out! Pictures can be found HERE.
